Tip of the week10 June 2024

Technology continues to evolve rapidly, with software and code becoming ubiquitous. While email attachments once consisted mainly of images and documents, today's ecosystem includes countless executable file formats that pose potential security risks. Unlike images or documents, clicking an executable directly executes the code it contains.

Blocking Executable Formats

To enhance monitoring and enable sophisticated attachment handling, SAP Business One permits superusers to establish restrictions on executable file formats. The system prevents these files from being attached to documents and records.

  • A "Block Executable Attachments" option is available in the Path tab in General Settings
  • Clicking the browse button opens the "Block List Selection" window
  • The window displays approximately 120 executable file formats to choose from
  • Users can select all formats or choose specific ones to block

Administrator Control

Superusers retain the ability to modify selections or disable blocking entirely, ensuring that security policies can be adjusted as business needs evolve while maintaining protection against potentially harmful file attachments.
